Been in a graphics making mood. I never did update with brushes. Maybe tomorrow? I am working on making premade layouts and uploading a portfolio or something. There is so much I wanna do. I want to save money. I am aiming for 5,000. So hey...if you want a layout, I charge 10 bucks.

Earlier this evening I found out that one of my friends from church has passed away. She had a heart attack last night. She was my Young Womens counselor at church, and also my Sunday school teacher for several years. I am so shocked. I thought she was healthy. It's not fair. Her youngest child is 15. What will she do? I just can't make sense of it now. I don't know what to say to her children. I have hardly been to church these past few months. She wasn't there on Sunday. I didn't get to say goodbye.

Blah, I am bored and so I'll write a couple of tutorials. They create a shiny effect and sunset-like effect.

First off I think this tutorial can be translated in PS because I use PSP8. Second join the photobox to get a HQ pic of Sawyer..or any other of the Lost Cast.

Once I have my pic and I crop and resize it into 100x100 icon size and sharpen it.

- original base

- Duplicate and set to screen

- Add new layer and fill it with a solid black color and set the blend mode to soflight

- Add new layer and fill it with #38435A and set blend mode to exclusion

- Copy the bottom layer and drag it all the way up to the top and set the blend mode to softlight

>> Take gradient like this and set blendmode to hardlight (dont know where i got the gradient from...) merge layers.

- Duplicate and set to burn at 50% opacity. Finished icon...feel free to use. just credit.

I thought this image from Aethereality.net's image gallery was so pretty that I just had a make an icon tutorial for it :).

1) Got my image from here, cropped and resized into icon size.

2) My icon

3) Sharpen, duplicate, set blend mode to burn at a 60% opacity and then go to >>Adjust>> >>Hue and Saturation>> >>Hue/Saturation/Lightness and have your settings like this: Hue: -180 ; Satuartion: 0 and Lightnes:: 0

4) My icon now

5) Add new layer fill in with blue color #021336 set blend mode to exclusion.

6) My icon now

7) Add texture from colorfilter and set blend mode to lighten.

8) My icon now

Done! Add text if you want....and please remember don't use this pic when making your icon when using this tutorial :).

This is an easy icon to make in PSP. For some parts though, I'm not sure if it will translate in Photoshop.

* I start off with my base of Harry.

* I sharpen the icon once and then take the soften tool to smooth the image just a bit. For PS users, use the blur tool to soften your icon.

* I want to make the eyes a bit shiny so I take freehand selection tool and use these settings to select the eyes. You may use whatever you like :).

* I add a new layer to the selection and fill the eyes with a blue gradient. I set the blend mode to overlay and duplicate once. The sharpen the eyes one time. I de-select the eyes and merge all of the layers. This is what I have now.

* It looks a bit scary, but that's what it's suppose to look like. I now want to desaturate my image. To do that I duplicate the icon and set the image to screen (because the icon is dark...everyone icon color is different, so you may need to use softlight) and the with my blend mode set to color and the floofill color set to black I desaturate the image and merge the layers. Here's a cap of how to desaturate an image if you didn't understand what I said above.

* Now I want to add a blue exclusion layer. So now I added a new layer and fill it in with #19202F and I set the blend mode to exclusion with the opacity being 60%.

* Now I add a new layer and fill it in with a blue gradient and set the blend mode to burn with the opacity being 45% and then I add another new layer and fill it in with that same blue gradient and set the blend mode to softlight.

* Now I go to >> Adjust >> Brightness and Contrast >> Clarify and I use these settings:

* My icon really stands out now.

* I'll add a texture from here and cut out the middle so it turns into borders.

* Just for fun, I want to add a "blending" effect. So now I go to >> Effects >> Image Effects >> Seamless Tiling and use these settings.

* I added my text now... font used : Arrière Garde ; size: 8 ; color: white
